  19. In Windows NT, when you attempt to perform a DIR /D on an NTFS volume
  20. with a very long directory name, you may receive the following error
  21. message:

  23.    Exception: divide by zero (<memaddress>, Address: <memaddress>

  28. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1
  29. and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this
  30. problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
  31. Base as it becomes available.

  36. Steps to Reproduce Problem
  37. --------------------------

  39. 1. On an NTFS partition, create a subdirectory with a name of 245
  40.    characters or more.
  41.  
  42. 2. In the Main group window, double-click the Command Prompt icon, or
  43.    use the arrow keys to select the Command Prompt icon, and then press
  44.    ENTER.
  45.  
  46. 3. Type DIR /D and press ENTER.
  47.  
  48. The above error message will appear.
